My Simple and Effective Networking Process ✨

Networking has been at the heart of my business journey. Most of my clients over the past two years have come through networking – either directly or via referrals. For me, it’s never just been about exchanging business cards or QR codes. It’s about showing up with intention, building genuine connections, and nurturing them over time.

Networking isn’t one-sided. It’s about creating opportunities for others as much as for yourself. Sometimes a referral leads to business, sometimes to a collaboration, and sometimes just to a new perspective. Either way, it’s never a waste.

My own process is simple and effective – but powerful when done consistently. Here’s how I approach it:

1️⃣ Attend the Event with Intention

Be fully present. Yes, take a few pictures or videos if you need to, but focus on listening more than talking. Most of all, go in with a clear intention – whether that’s to find a provider, share an offer, or simply grow your network. 🌱

2️⃣ Follow Up and Take Action

Meeting someone once isn’t enough. The magic happens in the follow-up:
✔️ Add them to your database (not for email marketing, but for your own records).
✔️ Check out their website.
✔️ Connect on social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, TikTok).
✔️ Send a personalised email so they have your details handy.
✔️ Arrange a 1-2-1 chat with the people you’d like to connect with more deeply.

3️⃣ Build Know + Like + Trust

Over time, with some people, you’ll get to this stage – and that’s when the real magic happens. Relationships deepen, and opportunities start to flow naturally.

Recently, I ran into someone at a business event whom I had met a year ago at another event. They remembered me as being very generous with information when we met and across my channels. A few weeks later, they sent someone my way – and we are now working together. That’s the ripple effect of trust in action. 💫

4️⃣ Refer and Be Referred

🤝 To existing clients or contacts
🤝 To new potential clients
🤝 On social media posts (tag, mention, or share their content)

Giving first often opens the door to being referred in return.

5️⃣ Repeat, Repeat, Repeat

Networking isn’t about single events or occasional effort. It’s about showing up consistently – online, in person, and in conversations. The more you nurture connections, the more opportunities follow.

⏳ No time for networking? Perhaps you can delegate some of your business admin – freeing you up to focus on building the connections that matter most and growing your business. Let’s have a chat! 💬
